Is the pink vieja fenestratus a rare cichlid to find? That's kind of relative for some people. I have a really hard time getting ANY Viejas around here. I think "uncommon" may be a better way to describe the pink Fenes. I have seen several people with them on various forums and I think Jeff Rapps sells them on his site too. |

Is the pink vieja fenestratus a rare cichlid to find? I just happened to stumble upon my pink fenestratus when I got them... Came in as part of an "assorted south american cichlid" shipment at my LFS. I liked them because of the coloring - little did I know that they would end up being a breeding pair - I'm up to my ears in fry! Mine have more of an orange coloration to their top half, and almost white on the bottom. When the light hits the bottom half just right it has a very light blue sheen to it. I'd say they are fairly hard to come across though... Yes, Rapps sells them - I've never personally done the mail-order-fish thing, but, he has an outstanding reputation! Also, check Aquabid.com (The Ebay of fish!) - I've found them there a few times. {EDIT}I just posted these photos on another post and figured you could appreciate them. Here's a couple of shots of my male pink fenestratus: ![]() ![]() ![]() This last one is of my male and female:
