Fenestratus are a very nasty fish. I can buy the pinks for $5.99 for that size. The synspilum are a bit more docile but I can get 3-4" fish for $4.99. Granted, they're not "F1" but still.

Those are some great prices for those 2 fish. I can't get either of them that cheap especially true Synspilums. |

The prices seem pretty nice. I don't have any experience with the fene though, I wish I did, they have been on my wish list for a while now. The synspilum would be fine together at that size. Usually if they are young and about the same size they do pretty well. I have stocked them in my 125 and 210 in a community setting without any issues. The don't bother the other fish at all, but they spook really easily.
My 10" female zonatus however, is pretty intolerant of any kind of vieja. Too bad too, I kind of wish I could do something with her now that she is laying eggs on a regular basis. |

I have never kept fenestratus, but my synspilum's were very conspecific aggressive but I never saw them once attack any other tankmates large or small. I'm from across the pond, so those prices are hard for me to speak of, as we seem to have completely different prices for certain fish.

I, on the other hand, can't find Synspilums around here to save my life and would gladly pay $10 for a 1.5" Syn. The adult Syn I have now was raised with +12" Midas cichlids and he held his own, and when he was moved into a tank with smaller fish did not end up being a bully at all. I would be careful about putting one with a Sev though, unless you are raising them together or if the Sev is larger than the Syn. |

I can't find EITHER of them around here and would probably pay twice that without hesitation
Vixen (my female fenestratus) is too aggressive to be kept with severums. She's fairly docile on her own, but on the rare occasion I've tried to keep her with another fish, I have to split them up pretty quickly. -------------------- ![]() |

That's funny sin cause Harry Tolen totally saturated the Seattle market with syn the last decade or so. Had so many the shops practically give them away. Figured they'd have made it just up north over the border. (That's who Aquamojo's syns came from.) I actually got the couple I had for free cause I went and picked them up and he was trying to give me dozens of 5-6" fish.
